It's A Dominican Thing: You can get great Dominican food at dozens of restaurants, but you would be hard pressed to find such outward national and culinary pride. The owners ditched their day jobs last year to open this Dominican bistro, which they named after their common refrain when friends asked about the homey dishes the couple served at dinner parties. They enlisted relatives from Inwood to tend tables and collected family recipes to inform their menu.

Meli Melo: Collecting his inspiration from all over the world, Meli Melo’s chef Bernard Ros, brought his worldly experience all to one place in NYC. Thus, the cuisine at Meli Melo is eclectic, with French, Italian, Vietnamese, and Noveau American accents. Accordingly, the restaurant obtained its name Meli Melo, from the derived meaning of “a mixture of flavors or cuisines.”

Running restaurants in NYC since 1971, such as Lecoco, Ledeauville, Café Comedy and Amadeus, Bernard Ros turned Meli Melo into a quintessential jewel on Madison Avenue.
